Lory and Bruce Road
Local area friends, through Nanaimo Realty, bought and developed these subdivisions in the late 1960’s and sold lots in the early 1970’s. They formed a construction company to build the roads and surveyed the lots. The company members included Bruce Lory, James Stubbs, Dave Williams and JC Holmes.
Lory and Bruce Roads, off of Macaulay Road, were named after Sheila Lory and Bruce Lory. Bruce Lory has since passed away and Sheila Lory lives in Courtney. Sheila Lory was very much involved with the local equestrian community and friends joined together and donated $100 each to form the North Vancouver Island Horse Association which is still thriving 50 years later, with many members throughout the Comox Valley.
