Digging a well was hard work.

The last few kilometres of Macaulay Road were developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

When these properties first sold, they lacked services, these ‘off-grid’ properties were located along the old logging road. Several original residents still live on these properties.

BC Hydro service became available in the mid-1970s, and the road was paved around 1984. The area had been logged, and broom flourished. At the end of the road, the views were spectacular across the strait to the Coast Mountain Range. During the early days, it was a close-knit community of young families.
