James Crescent and area

By kimbolini on December 7, 2024December 7, 2024

James Stubbs, Robert Arnett, Lorne Vanetta, Dave Williams, Monte Bowe, John Holmes, Bruce Lory

Local area friends, through Nanaimo Realty, bought and developed subdivisions in the late 1960’s and sold lots in the early 1970’s. They formed a construction company to build the roads and surveyed the lots. The company members included Bruce Lory, James Stubbs, Dave Williams and JC Holmes.

James Stubbs was involved in developing the subdivision in a curve of the Oyster River in the early 1970’s. Apparently, the area developed was previously the first Oyster River Speedway property. The area was accessed from Macaulay Road and Doyle Rd to James Crescent, and included Riverbend Rd, Gleadle Rd and the area above Dolm Road, NE of Doyle Road. The Prospectus was signed on June 17, 1975 by Oyster Garden Properties Ltd. The principals were Bobett Investments Ltd (Robert Arnett), Lorne Vanetta, James Stubbs, Dave Williams Trucking Ltd (Dave Williams), Monte Bowen Bulldozing Ltd (Monte Bowen) and J C Holmes Ltd (John Holmes). The Legal Description and Title section of the prospectus lists 50 lots.
